REGISTER FOR REGULAR UPDATES

Please note: Only Midlands based companies in the UK are applicable for joining this trade mission.

The UK-ASEAN Business Council (UKABC) in cooperation with the Department for International Trade (DIT) and Midlands Engine are considering running a multi-sector trade mission to Indonesia and Vietnam. We are requesting initial expressions of interest from companies that are already exporting and looking to expand their activities into these two vibrant markets.

Incredible Indonesia

Indonesia is the powerhouse economy of Southeast Aisa. Currently the 16th largest economy in the world it is projected to be the 4th largest economy in the world by 2050. With a population of over 260 million and a GDP growth of 5.3% (2018 second quarter), Indonesia’s macroeconomic fundamentals are sound and have been strengthening as the government continues to implement critical structural reforms. Indonesia is working hard to attract international investment highlighted by their impressive rise up the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business Index from 114th in 2014 to 72nd in 2017.

Vibrant Vietnam

Vietnam has one of the fastest-growing, most vibrant economies in Asia. According to the Asian Development Bank, Vietnam is one of the fastest growing economies in the world with an expected growth rate of 7.1% in 2018. Currently, 70% of the population is under 35 years of age, with a life expectancy of close to 73 years. By 2050, Vietnam’s population is expected to reach 120 million.

Vietnam is enjoying increased integration through free trade agreements and business-friendly policy reforms. With an increasingly educated workforce and a growing middle class, Vietnam has positioned itself to be a significant part of the global supply chain and a vibrant economic hub to do business with Southeast Asia.
