  • | Higher Education Mission to Vietnam & Cambodia (2-8 October 2019)

Education is one of the key pillars in the UK-Vietnam bilateral strategic partnership and receives investment from the Government and the private sector. Of a total population of 95m, almost 2m are studying in universities and The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) has developed a comprehensive transformation of Higher Education, including granting autonomy to universities.

UK Education is highly regarded and, of the 500 current TNE programmes in Vietnam, the UK is ranked third. There are significant opportunities in TNE, including joint degrees; technology transfer; quality assurance and leadership skills training.

As a result of this strong interest, the Department for International Trade (DIT), working with the British Council and UUKi will lead a UK Higher Education mission to the market timed to coincide with the UK/Vietnam Joint Economic & Trade Committee (JETCO) talks in Vietnam.

In the margins, DIT and MOET will also be signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further progress our relationship. Whilst in the region, we will take the opportunity to undertake a programme of engagement with Higher Education institutions in Cambodia where there has been a direct call by their Education Minister for UK partnerships; specifically, to showcase models of HE TNE including joint programmes.

    • Meet with senior officials from the Ministries of Education in Vietnam and Cambodia
